Zainab's Medical Fund

On June 21, I suffered a medical emergency relating to my past diagnosed conditions, causing severe abdominal pain and vomiting for 3+ hours, ultimately causing me to faint and collapse on the ground. This incident resulted in a call to 911 and an emergency room visit totaling in about $12,000 in hospital bill. Because the incident happened while I was in California, my Illinois based health insurance denied coverage for my claims, leaving me responsible for the entirety of the bill at an out-of-network cost.

As many of you who are close to me know, I have been dealing with severe medical issues since 2017 when I was diagnosed with several conditions that greatly impacted my quality of life. Although it has been a long journey through recovering from these conditions and the side effects of medications, growing and fighting through my diagnoses and misdiagnoses, there is still quite a bit of healing to be done physically and mentally. 

Between the ambulance, imaging done, the ER costs, and the fee for the ER doctor, the sum of the medical bills equates to a little over 1/4 of my yearly income. While I have done my best to save for any emergencies, this is something I cannot pay off alone. Between supporting my general living expenses and student loan repayment, I have found myself a position where I need to ask for help. While I understand that times are tough for everyone, if you could even contribute $1 towards my medical bills it would mean the world to me. For those of you who cannot contribute financially, I ask that you share this campaign with your family, friends, and co-workers through whatever platform you believe will be the most effective.
