My name is Antonio Zua Companhia and I wish to build peace in my communities.
I live in Beira, Mozambique. Although I was born after the colonial war time in Mozambique, the country itself never lived in peace.

I am here by to ask for your contribution of to make my dream coming true so that I can be able to help solving problems that affects my country and other countries that might need intervention with peace building and conflict transformation. Please consider supporting my education fund to gain the tools I need to bring more peace in my community.
The continuous civil war between current ruling party and the main opposition over who should rule the country has gone years by now and no solid and better plans of reconciliation up to today. And on the other end the terrorism war that is going on in the Cabo-Delgado northern of Mozambique, this continuous unrest makes a lot of national and international peoples feel insecure about this matter as this tends to escalate and causing more death of innocents and less clarification of what is missing in order to live peace.
Peacebuilding is the implementation of measures intended to create or sustain peace, especially in an area affected by conflict. I see my background in agriculture as a tool and perspective through witch I hope find nonviolent solutions in communities around me.
Where there is peace there is good Agricultural production and there is climate change mitigation that can lead to a good sustainable development of a country/ nation. Knowing what causes the problem, I'm going to be focusing on figuring out more ways to minimize conflicts through my studying, so this can help me out solving and mitigate the bad impacts of conflicts in the world.

My work in agriculture in Mozambique and Zambia, and time in Haiti showed me how solving conflicts among people is so important to their well being in families, communities, their financial and food security, and livelihoods. I wanted to learn more about conflict transformation because farming alone did not seem like enough anymore. I wanted to learn what role conflict transformation plays in countries that are in constant crisis like Mozambique and apply approaches that will give people hope.
Through my work with MCC, I learned about Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and the graduate programs offered through The Center for Justice and Peacebuilding. I have recently been accepted as a student in the Masters in Conflict Transformation program in Harrisonburg, Virginia, USA; however, my enrollment has been deferred until the 2022-2023 academic year so that I can have more time to secure funding. Thankfully, the school has already awarded me a $5,000 scholarship toward the total cost: Please consider supporting me in enhancing my skills so that I can better work with countries in my region to pursue peace, practice justice and improve food security and climate change practice.
