Please meet Harvey, a very special little fella.
We rescued Harvey from his previous owners a year ago.
As you can see from the scars to the right hand side of his face, he was subjected to horrific abuse and was scalded with boiling water at a very young age.
The scars also go down his chest and down his right front leg which was also broken as he was teathered at the time he was scalded.
The previous owners didnt once seek any veterinary care and Harvey was left to suffer such horrific pain whilst the wounds healed and his front right leg fixed itself.
I saw Harvey (Charlie as he was called then) being advertised on a local website going "Free to a good home" I arranged a veiwing that eveing.
The previous owners were VERY unhelpful, they didnt seem to know anything about him, neither did they have any medical history on him, they didnt even know what food he was on, however they did tell me that he was completely blind in his right eye and that he went being the fridge freezer and burnt himself on the motor at the bottom and thats how he obtained his scars...you could tell that they just wanted rid of the dog and I was more than happy to oblige.
Harvey came home with us that evening and we have never looked back since.
We didnt hesitate to take him to our Vets to get checked over, it then became apparent what had actually happened to the poor fella, my heart dropped, how could anybody inflict such abuse to such a happy little dog?? Harvey's right eye is in full working order, it is only the mucles around it that are damaged, however, his right ear is completley damaged...because the inside of his ear is so badly burnt and fused together he is unable to clean it properly and he therefor has a constant, very nasty, ear infection.
Two seperate vets have advised that the best option for him would be to remove his ear canal.
This prodedure is estimated at anywhere between £2 - 3k.
This initial fundraiser is to cover the consultation costs and further fundraisig will be done in the local community to raise funds for the much needed operation.
Thank you for taking the time to read this
