Let's Help the Big Ugly Community Center Weather the Storm! (Harts, WV)
"Big Ugly Kids Need Food security: you can help...
Dear friends,
We need your help to raise $1500 for a generator to ensure we do not lose the food we secure to feed kids and families all summer.
With the second several day power outage on Big Ugly Creek this month we are reminded how vulnerable our efforts are to feed children. The Center is the only site south of Hamlin (one hour north) that provides summer food. So far we have had great support from people to store our food, but we could get hit when we are stocked and can't get the food off the Creek. We will be able to put our freezers and refrigerators on a generator and literally weather the storms."
- Michael Tierney,
Executive Director/Founder at Step By Step, Inc.

All funds raised will go directly to the center director, Michael Tierney, for immediate purchase of the generator. Any additional funds will go towards the many programs the center offers the community.

Who set up this fund and why? This GoFundMe project has been established by Mira Stanley (WV native) & Chuck Costa, two adjunct faculty members at the BUCC Summer Music Camp (for the last five years), and co-collaborators with the center director, Michael Tierney.
When we recieved word of the urgent need for the power generator, we offered to set up and manage this campaign to help spread the word, and allow for the community (largely off-the-grid, with little to no cell phone reception or internet services) to concentrate on helping each other on-site.
