Patrick Lacey speaks to Vancouver City News: https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2023/09/07/bc-west-kelowna-wildfires-damage
Hello all,
The evening of August 17th, 2023, the McDougall Creek fire destroyed the Lacey family's home in West Kelowna, BC.
This is the second time in only a few years the family's home and belongings have been destroyed in a fire, we are hoping to help them cover basic living expenses while they get back on their feet and work towards rebuilding their lives.
The Lacey family home includes Patrick and Caroline Lacey, their two young children, and their dog. Patrick and Caroline Lacey are dedicated parks employees, to Bear Creek Campground, as well as other well-loved nature areas around the Okanagan. Their children are bright, talented and kind.
As Patrick is the Owner/Builder not a contractor, so they could not get insured for course of construction and were racing to final inspection when this happened.
This has been a devastating loss for their family, losing all their memories, belongings and housing they've managed to rebuild since the previous fire.
Any amount helps, and we thank you for your kindness.
Further updates to come as to physical donations once the family has had time to process some of this extremely traumatic situation.
