Help Nicole's journey though Cervical Cancer

Recently, our sister, Nicole Ghislieri was diagnosed with cervical cancer. The tumour is too large to remove surgically. The treatment plan outlined by her doctors includes a combination of radiation, chemotherapy, and brachytherapy, which aims to combat the cancer effectively. Nicole's team of doctors are hopeful that her cancer is curable. However, her transplanted kidney is now at risk of failure.

Many people may not know this about Nicole, but both her kidneys failed when she was 19 years old. Nicole was on dialysis for almost 2 years before her sister, Angela was approved and able to donate a kidney to her - giving her a second chance at life. Considering the size and location of the tumour, radiation treatment will harm the donated kidney leading to a high risk of kidney failure. These treatments will also terminate her reproductive system. This is heartbreaking for Nicole and her partner Gideon, as they were planning to start a family very soon. The focus now is on Nicole curing the cancer, which is the most pressing concern.

Nicole has been undergoing numerous tests since December, including external and internal ultrasounds, physical examinations, a biopsy, a LEEP procedure, a CT scan, a PET scan, MRIs, Doctors appointments, and meetings. She has been off work since early May, and we anticipate her not returning to work for at least 5 more months. We would like to start this fundraiser to alleviate the financial burdens that come with medical treatments and time off work.
