Help Spooks pee !!
Donation protected
Since adopting Spooks in 2012, I have fostered and found homes for over 60 cats and dogs, and always have at least one foster dog or cat in my home. I continually foster for Charleston Animal Society, Francis Willis Dorchester SPCA, and Sinbad Sadie Second Chance Rescue. I volunteer and participate in fundraising and adoption events. I always encourage my friends and family to foster and adopt shelter animals, because each time one animal is fostered or adopted, it makes room for one more life to be saved!! It is so gratifying to be a part of our animal rescue community!
Now, sadly, I am the one having to
ask for help to save the life of my sweet, silly 3 year old Spooks. I would be humbled and grateful for any donation of any amount to help Spooks have a chance to continue to be mischievous and continue his adventures, and get him back to snuggling and snoring on my pillow at night.
I have done what I can to cover these unexpected expenses, and I am much better at giving help than asking for it, but I know I have to ask for help to save my sweet boy's life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
To a vet, Spooks is a three year old black neutered male cat, but to me, he is much more. Spooks was my first "Foster Failure" (a Foster animal that is adopted by their Foster parent). He is in need of the P/U surgery in order to be able to pee and continue to live. He is only three years old and the surgery is guaranteed to allow him to live out a happy and healthy life. The surgery ranges from $3,000-$5,000. Poor Spooks has been at the emergency vet all week which has created another $2,000-$4,000 bill. Without the surgery Spooks will continue to get blocked and damage his kidneys. The only options are surgery or to put him to sleep. I can not bare to put down my baby because of money when there is a way to save him where he can live pain free and a comfortable life for many many years to come.
A little bit about Spooks:
In the middle of October 2012, I went to the Charleston Animal Society to foster a kitten. The first kitten I fostered had unfortunately passed away and I was heart broken. So after some time had passed I went back in hopes to find another life I could help save. I asked the Foster coordinator, Jodi, to pick a kitten that was strong and healthy, and she brought me Spooks. He was just a little black fluff ball. It is unusual that kittens come in without siblings, but Spooks is no ordinary cat, so it's not as surprising. On the drive home from the shelter, he sat on my shoulder as I drove like he was a parrot. The first thing he did when we got home is sit on the bed and stare at the ceiling fan and rock his body in a circular motion. Then came the obsession with the toilet. I can't even count how many times I came home from class and he would just be swimming around in the toilet bowl. One time he managed to sneak into the dishwasher while I was loading it. Luckily I didn't start it! He loves to chase toes and torment his
big sister, Diamond. At night he would sleep on my chest and suckle on the tip of my nose, trying to nurse from it. His personality was so big it was overwhelming, but Spooks only weighed 1.2 pounds the day I picked him up from the shelter!! He has been with me three years and he now weighs a whopping 16 pounds. His favorite food is queso and he will come running no matter where he is as soon as he hears the jar open or the crinkle of a chip bag. I fall asleep every night rubbing his belly while he snores on my pillow. He loves to rumble and tumble with his brother Charleigh.
Spooks and I would be forever grateful if you could please share this page and donate if you are able!
