Helping Afghans in Crisis
As an Afghan American whose parents came to this country as refugees, the crisis that's unfolding in my homeland is heartbreaking and hits very close to home for myself and many others alike.
Since the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, and the subsequent Taliban take-over, there has been an escalation of violence throughout the country causing civilian casualties and destruction of infrastructure including homes, health facilities, public services, and schools. In addition, just in the last 3 months, 330,000 Afghans have being displaced from their homes with the conflict taking the heaviest toll on displaced women and children.
Now with the Taliban in full control of the country many innocent families are looking for a way out due to fear of persecution and their personal safety. And for those who cannot leave, they will have to try survive under an oppressive and barbaric regime.
The world is watching Afghanistan and looking for ways to support innocent Afghans. I’ve had so many people reach out to me about helping my home country and this is why I decided to start this GoFundMe. A full-scale humanitarian crisis is unfolding in Afghanistan and we must do something to help those impacted.
At the moment I am talking to a few different organizations trying to figure out the best place to distribute the funds as this crisis is ever-evolving and everyone is in a panic on the ground over there. I will keep everyone updated as we continue raising funds and vet the credible organizations, non-profits and projects we can support.
