Appalachian Theatre Renovation
Tax deductible
The renovation of the High Country's only Art Deco theatre is underway! We need $24,900 to help us recreate the bold and sleek interior lobby design of the 1930s. You can play a leading role in making this happen!
The High Country had only one Art Deco theatre, the Appalachian Theatre in Boone. A gorgeous theater where movies played and Doc Watson performed as a young man, the building was a hub for entertainment for generations. Due to changes in the economy, it closed in 2007.
We are renovating the theater to create a home for the arts. Imagine local and national artists taking the stage for live concerts and plays, films, lectures and community events. An expansive, new community room on the second floor of the building will host meetings, receptions, and conferences. Facade renovations were completed in 2017.
When it opened in 1938, a stunning terrazzo floor in the lobby and dramatic deco carpets welcomed visitors into the theatre. We want to bring back that artistry and craftsmanship to this historic movie theatre. Help us recreate the historic feel of the theatre by contributing to our first crowdfunding campaign.
Now is time to give! You can make a difference!
The Appalachian is scheduled to reopen in early fall 2019. To learn more about the project, click HERE and HERE .
