School Counselor Scholarships - Pro-Dev
Donation protected
Professional School Counselors are a vital component of safe and successful students across the US and around the world. Nationally, the student to counselor ratio is horrible. The recommended ratio is 1:250 and many schools are closer to 1:1000 or more. In addition, districts have cut funding for professional development for school counselors.
Professional development is vital to the continued service we provide to students and families. Last year, I raised enough to provide a full scholarship to one new counselor and a partial scholarship to a second to our national professional organization's (American School Counselor Association - ASCA)
conference in Philadelphia, PA. For an interview with the scholarship recipient and how the conference helped her grow, visit: http://www.thecounselinggeek.com/2013/08/the-counseling-geek-interview-series.html
This year, I am reaching out to the donating public, fellow school counselor colleagues, and concerned parents to ask you to help me fund 2 or more full ASCA conference registrations for some of the hardworking counselors in the US.
For the price of two Starbucks pumpkin spiced lattes, you can help improve the lives of hundreds of students by sending their counselor to a wonderful learning opportunity in July 2014.
I will personally match the first $50 donated.
This year's conference
is being held in Orlando, FL and runs from June 29th - July 2nd. The registration rates for members is $349 ($269 for student member rate). By raising $700 or more - we will be able to help send at least two counselors to the conference. Many counselors will pay upwards of $1000 out of pocket to attend this conference between the registration, travel, and lodging -- let us help take the burden off of a group of key supports for our youth.
