Our quest to Save Bernadine

Many of the people who may read this may already know of a tragic event that happened to our family 10 years ago when my baby sister went to another country to have a lap band surgery and had complications and died a month later in a hospital 4000 miles away from her family and everyone who knew and loved her.  This happened so sudden that our family did not have the resources to get my sister home to the US and get her the care that she need to save her life.  She died at age 27.

Once again we are  faced with a possibility of losing a family member.  My sister Bernadine was diagnosed with cancer 6 months ago.  The tumors in her uterus and cervix were so large that they could not perform a surgery to remove them so they started an aggressive chemo treatment to help shrink the tumors.  After 9 weeks of aggressive chemo and a new PET scan the tumors did not shrink much.  So... a second round of aggressive chemo was reccommended.  After another 9 weeks of chemo. (which in itself almost killed her)  The doctors did a new PET scan and the large tumors were gone.  However,  new tumors had emerged and when the doctor went to give her the prognosis he could not even look her in the eye.  He just pushed a paper across his desk at her and asked her to sign giving him permission  to perform a surgery that would allow him to cut out ANYTHING in her body that looked like cancer.  Imagine...  

Finally after my sister and mother going to the Cancer Institute of America for three days and many, many doctors reviewing her case here is her formal prognosis.

Clearcell Adeno Carcinoma Stage 3.  This is a very rare form of uterine cancer.  A very aggressive cancer. Apprently this form of cancer is resistant to chemo and radiation with is the normal course of treatment for Uterine cancer.  So the cancer tumors may get smaller or even dissapear in some areas but it will usually come back.

So here is where we are at.   We found a program that is called the Gerson Therapy that is a holistic approach to killing cancer from organic fruit and vegetable juices 13 times a day,  organic coffee enemas and supplements to turn her body to an alkaline state.  This is a two year program.  And very costly as her cancer policy does not cover holistic treatments only chemo and radiation.  My wish is to send her to a retreat in Sedona AZ for four weeks after her surgery is performed and get her treatment started.

The treatment is for 4 weeks and will cost around $20k to $25k including transportation.  My mother accompanying her to be by her side and all her supplements.

After that we need to keep her on the program for the remaining of the 2 years (god willing).  However, the cost we estimate will be around 2k per month for the 2 years.  With Bernadine not working because of this illness there is no way she can come up with these funds on her own.  

At this point this is our only hope.  We do not know of anything else that we can do to be proactive in saving her life.
