Biggie's Emergency Eye Surgery

Hello everyone, meet Biggie, my 3 year old Shih Tzu. He is the pet that brings smiles and joy to everyone around him with his goofy personality. Unfortunately something tragic happened less than 24 hours ago, he was injured terribly by a pit puppy who is 3x his size. They usually are very good friends but something triggered him and we weren't in the room to see exactly what happened, but we did hear Biggie start to cry very loudly. We rushed over and what I saw was truly the most heart aching and terrifying thing I’ve seen with my own eyes. My poor baby’s eye was out of his socket. We quickly found an emergency vet that was open at 12:30 a.m. and hoped for it to be an accident that could be quick and painlessly fixed. Unfortunately there was too much swelling and damage to the nerve and muscles that the eye was completely decatched and wasnt able to be saved. The only option was to have Biggie go in for surgery and have his eye completely removed to prevent infection and swelling in his brain. They put together an estimate and it was a big shock for me and my brother. Between the both of us we were only able to pull together $1000 from what we had which was less than 25% of the cost for surgery, medication and everything else on the bill. We couldn't bare to see our dog in the condition he was in and we knew what we had to do. We went through with the surgery and hoped for the best. He is still being held at the hospital and under their care. We are now trying to pay back the rest of the cost and to continue his treatment and have our best friend happy and healthy again. So I ask from the bottom of my heart to help in any way possible whether its to donate any amount you can, share our story or simply keep Biggie in your prayers.
