Help Blue Eyed Baby Jett fight Leukemia
Donation protected
Dear Family & Friends,
On Monday March 18th at 3:30 am The Sharkey Family received a life changing diagnosis. Our precious blue eyed two year old Jett, has B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. As the shock settled and our hearts broke; we begin adapting to the new “normal” aka THE FIGHT!
Tuesday March 19th, Jett had a bone marrow biopsy, he had a lumbar puncture to test his cerebrospinal fluid, he had a small dose of chemo injected into his spinal column and he had his port placed. Pathology showed no leukemia had crossed the blood brain barrier(Hallelujah).
Once being admitted, he received 2 blood transfusions and 3 platelet transfusions, he's on steroids, antibiotics, antacids, uric acid reducers, anti-nausea medicine, diuretics, bp meds and Jett received his first "real" dose of chemo. Fast forward to Friday March 22nd - Jett received another round of chemo and platelet transfusion.
**UPDATE as of March 27th** [From Lisa]
Our first in-clinic chemo treatment is done!
His lumbar puncture went well and his blasts are down to 8%!!!!
The genetics on his leukemia came back favorable too, they show he'll respond well to his chemo.
His labs also showed his white cell count has left the building, so I'm apologizing now for turning everyone away, but he has no immune system at the moment. His hemoglobin and platelets were also really low, and he needed another blood transfusion and platelet transfusion. But, it wouldn't be a day with the Sharkeys without SOMETHING happening. Turns out, Jett is allergic to the platelets and he had a nice little reaction just as he was finishing up. So IV Benadryl and another 2hrs in the clinic. We've been here just shy of 11 hours but we're holding on to the good news. Jett's story will be a testimony of God's love and we cannot wait for him to share that love with everyone!
We truly believe without the positive energy and support for not only Jett but his older siblings (JD, EMMA, WILL) and his twin brother MAX; all the family friends and even strangers that have poured their hearts out. We wouldn't be able to focus on the light at the end of the tunnel.
Thank you everyone who has invested in prayers & DoorDash to help The Sharkey Family with their four other children, groceries, and unforeseen expenses.
This is a marathon not a sprint; let us continue to trust in Our Lord & Savior as we pray for a cure over these next 2.5 years of treatment for blue eyed baby Jett.
