Help Brandy Beat Cancer

Dear friends,
Our family is humbly in need of your Support. Our beautiful wife and mother Brandy was diagnosed with AcuteMyeloid Leukemia (AML) on June 20th of this year. She underwent her first round of chemotherapy beginning June 23rd. During her recovery she acquired a bacterial infection which led to her going into septic shock on July 5th. Things were pretty difficult during her stay in ICU. We almost lost her a couple of times. Her condition deteriorated. Her kidneys shut down and her liver, lungs and heart all took a substantial hit. The medicine they used to restore her blood pressure and save her life regrettably cut off the circulation to her hands and feet. On August 19th Brandy lost both of her feet and three of her fingers to amputation. Please know that throughout the journey Brandy’s spirit and faith has never wavered. During her recovery from surgery Brandy unfortunately was diagnosed with skin cancer on her nose. Not that we needed any more bad news. She had Mohs surgery and required dozens of stitches. After all was said and done Brandy had healed enough and on September 9th Brandy returned to City of Hope (her hospital) for a second round of Chemotherapy. Again, she did quite well and after a couple of weeks she was discharged and headed home. Brandy was elated to be home but after only an hour or so she got a fever and had to be rushed back to the hospital. It was devastating. The sepsis had returned and again she got very sick. Her heart again took a hit and was operating at only 20% capacity. After three additional weeks in the hospital she recovered enough to head home. Brandy has been home for a month and is doing well. She has begun the process of learning to walk again on her “trainer” prosthetics. Brandy continues to amaze the doctors with her positive attitude and outlook. We still have a very long road ahead of us. Brandy is awaiting results from tests to determine if her heart is strong enough for stem cell transplant which is absolutely necessary for her long term recovery. We are fortunate to have TWO perfect matches. Praise the lord! We are on the journey of a lifetime. As you can imagine there are many unknowns regarding the ongoing and lifetime costs for medical bills, prosthetics, equipment and treatment. Our biggest fight, stem cell transplant is yet to come. Once we get through this Brandy is committed to a future of ministry whether it is to help inspire leukemia patients, Mohs patients or amputees. Knowing Brandy it will be all of the above. Thank you all for your help and support. Please continue to pray for our angel on earth, Brandy
Blessings,
Peter, Sarah and Brad
