Cathy Miller's Legal Defense Fund

Tax-deductible donations made to this GoFundMe campaign will go to the Freedom of Conscience Defense Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit constitutional law firm, which is defending Cathy for free. FCDF does not charge a penny for its services.
Story:
Cathy serves all who walk through the doors of her shop, Tastries Bakery. But when a same-sex couple asked her to create a custom wedding cake to celebrate their same-sex marriage, Cathy declined. Her reason was clear: she sincerely believes that God designed marriage as a lifelong union of one man and one woman. Unfortunately, Cathy’s decision to honor God’s design for marriage and live by her conscience has cost her dearly.
California state officials are now waging a legal war to destroy Cathy and her business. They have asked a judge to force Cathy to create custom wedding cakes celebrating same-sex marriages or stop making wedding cakes altogether. If the government is successful, Cathy might have to close her business--wedding cakes and desserts make up approximately 40 percent of her business. Cathy's Legal Defense Fund will help her take a stand for faith and freedom.
You don’t need to have met Cathy to know how important this case is. The stakes are high for all of us. If Cathy is forced to create custom artwork that celebrates activities that conflict with her core convictions, others will be similarly forced to create various forms of expression that violate their conscience.
Your donation is not about who is right or wrong in the debate about same-sex marriage. Rather, your donation says that creative professionals should be free to choose what sorts of artistic expression they engage in without threat of government punishment.
Tax-deductible donations made to this GoFundMe campaign, working in partnership with the Freedom of Conscience Defense Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit religious liberty law firm, will help fund Cathy's legal defense. Your donation can be anonymous. Thank you for helping Cathy--for your contribution, for sharing this campaign with others, and for standing together with us, so that all people can live and work according to their deepest beliefs.
We have set an initial fundraising goal of $100,000 for Cathy's legal defense, but anticipate that the expenses may be much higher. The government officials are committed to destroying Cathy, and they have the funds to fight to the end. We'll make adjustments to the goal as the case proceeds and keep you updated.
