Most of you know my very best friend Eric Featherston.
Eric is the most gentle, thoughtful and kind person in the world and no one could ask for a better freind, father, husband or sibling.
At age 53, Eric has been battling Cancer for more than 3 years now. Eric is on his second war with stage 4 liver cancer. We thought Eric had won the war the first time a couple of years back when the cancer went into remission. The photo you see, shows Eric at his “Superman” party in April of 2013. Eric was cancer free for almost exactly a year until it returned again, this time bigger and stronger than ever. Eric has been putting up a fight like no other. Even his Dr. told him that she has never seen someone endure as much Chemo as he insisted on taking. Eric has had two operations to treat the lesions with direct radiation pellets and Chemo injections but they have continued to grow.
Just last week Eric’s Dr. told him that there nothing more she could do. The treatments that have made him so sick, are just not helping any longer. Eric is optimistic and in good spirits, but because of the strength of the past treatments and the pain that he battles each day, he has been forced onto disability, and has been for some time now.
Eric’s Short term disability runs out in March and he was recently denied long term disability. This has left him with very little money and no way to earn money. Eric does not now have a significant other to provide any income so he is fighting with the State for Social Security and Medicare. This is not how it should be. So, I am asking for all of us to help my great friend and help raise some money so Eric can support himself until he can live some type of normal life. Eric has Dr. bills and daily living expenses that he just cannot meet. The money will help him pay for those things. We all get to experience some simple pleasures in our life because we are able to work. Let’s pool together to help our friend be able to experience life’s small pleasures and so he can feel normal again.
Those of you who know Eric absolutely understand what kind of person he is. Eric, nor anyone, should have to battle these odds, the state and this filthy disease all while having very little funds available. I know there are a lot of people and causes all of you support and we all know someone with similar circumstances. I will be starting this off with the first donation, please match or give as much as you feel appropriate to help Eric feel some normalcy. I am so thank ful to have friends like you to help support our wonderful friend!
