Help Acid Attack Victim Ioanna Paliospirou
Donation protected
Our beloved Greek friend Ioanna Paliospirou was the victim of a heinous crime.
On May 20,2020 Ioanna Paliospirou was leaving work when an unknown woman came up to her and threw a very large cup of acid in her face. Ioanna spent 3 months in the hospital fighting for her life. This story was national news in Greece and abroad because of the severity of the attack. She had acid burns on 94% of her face and body and has undergone seven major surgeries since the attack.
Our friend Ioanna has been since courageously dealing with this unprovoked attack. We believe she is a real survivor. She feels like her whole life is destroyed and she has undergone and is still experiencing excruciating pain in her body and in her soul for months and unfortunately this still goes on. She needs as much help as she can get, to overcome these difficulties and to remain positive. Any donation you are able to make, no matter how small, will mean the world to her and her family, especially as we continue through the holiday season and close out this difficult year. The donations will go toward her medical needs and recovery from this violent attack such as medicine, ointments, special gels, as well as purpose-built face masks and costumes specialized for improving scars and grafts and to cover her daily expenses. Furthermore, she will eventually need to travel abroad to specialized medical and rehabilitation centers. The doctors estimate that she will need another 30+ surgeries just to be able to function again and that she still has a long road to recovery.
Ioanna is still undergoing treatment in and out of the hospital. She is still suffering with function issues with her sight, hearing, neck, mouth and left arm. She is not able to work and is forbidden to expose herself to sunlight.
Ioanna needs all the help she can get from this campaign because it could take a really long time before she gets any financial compensation whatsoever if any, due to the way such cases are dealt with here in Greece.
Many thanks and much gratitude for your generous donations.
