MEET THE KELLY FAMILY:
Norman Kelly, Kelly Mcallister, Carson Kelly (6 yrs), and Conor Kelly (3 yrs). This beautiful young family needs our help.
Just two weeks ago, their lives changed when Norm received a call from his doctor saying that preliminary tests indicated that he may have Leukemia. Since then, Norm has had to endure an enormous amount of additional testing including extensive blood work, 3 transfusions, a bone marrow biopsy and numerous trips to the hospital.
Norms results concluded that Norm has a rare condition called Hypoplastic MDS, also known as a pre-leukemia. Myelodysplastic Syndroms (MDS) are a group of cancers in which immature blood cells in the bone marrow do not mature and, therefore, do not become healthy blood cells. As a result, Norm's white and red blood cells, as well as his platelets are dangerously low.
Norm has been admitted to hospital, in protective isolation, to begin his 6 month treatment immediately.
WHY THE KELLY'S NEED YOUR HELP:
Norm is self employed and runs Kelly Tree Service based out of Saint-Lazarre QC. His work is highly specialized and physically demanding, so he will be unable to return to work indefinitley. Moreover, as Norm's work is seasonal and the winter and spring months were longer and harsher than in past years; his work was just beginning.
Kelly, (originally born and raised in Brampton ON), is employed as a part time nurse. In both cases, short / long term disability benefits are not available for the family.
OUR GOAL:
With Norms unexpected health diagnosis and the extensive treatments that he will undergo this year, it is critical that we come together and try to relieve some of the overwhelming financial stress of him not being able to work to provide for his family. We need Norm to focus on his health and getting better.
Because of their personal employment situation, we are, therefore, reaching out to family, friends, friends of friends, anyone.... to please make a donation and help spread the word in order to help this family get through what will be a very difficult and challenging year.
