Deputy Crime Fighter turned Covid Fighter
Hello,
In January 2021 while working as a deputy sheriff in the Tampa Bay area, my co-worker Bryan Carver responded to a call of an elderly female that had passed away. It was later determined that this female passed away as a result of Covid 19. Ten days later, Deputy Carver became very ill and tested positive for Covid 19 after being exposed on the job at this death investigation call. Deputy Carver lost 25lbs and was hospitalized with a severe case. Despite being exposed to Covid 19 while on the job, his workman's compensation claim was denied. Deputy Carver was flooded with costly medical expenses, prescriptions and care.
Fast forward to May 19, 2021. On that morning Deputy Carver suffered a massive heart attack and was air lifted to St. Joseph's Hospital in critical condition. He spent 14 days in a Cardiac Critical Care Unit and subsequently had to undergo a quadruple open heart bypass which was a result of the damaging effects of Covid 19 on his body.
Deputy Carver's short term disability benefits have run their course and the insurance company that handles the long term disability benefits has yet to make any decisions on this case. Deputy Carver has served the citizens of the Tampa Bay area as a deputy sheriff for more than 24 years and is eight months shy of reaching full retirement. Deputy Carver has two children ages 13 and 16. This family is in dire need of help at this point.
Thank you in advance for your help and listening to Deputy Carver's Story.
