Helping a Family Flee from War

Hello, and thanks for opening your heart!

Shanya and I have heard many expressions of care and concern for Ukrainians who have been forced, by war, to abandon their homes. We have connected with a family of four, and offered them sponsorship. This means they'll be coming to live in the United States for two years. (We have been Confirmed as Sponsors by United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.)

Their prayer is to return to a peaceful Ukraine. In Ukraine, they live in Kharkiv, a city that is frequently bombed. Halyna M., her mom Nataliia and Halyna's son (now 14) and daughter (now 11) will be moving in with us. Halyna's husband, Viktor, is not allowed to leave Ukraine. He values the safety of his family above all else so he is making a painful sacrifice. Shanya and I want to lift Halyna and her family out of the basement that is doubling as their bomb shelter.

We are raising funds in order that their needs here can be met. The dignity of their own apartment, utilities, transportation for Halyna to get to work, food, clothing and school supplies are among their ongoing needs. 100% of funds raised will go directly to these needs.

As Shanya has said, if a family hadn't opened their home to her family, who fled Ukraine in 1945, she wouldn't be here. When I imagine our grandchildren enduring the life Halyna's family is living, I know we would do anything to help them escape the terror of war.
