My name is Latagia Copeland-Tyronce and I am a longtime parental rights advocate, activity, writer, mentor and trained social worker/therapist. My passion is to help others but I am stuck in a financial bind that keeps me from following my dream of helping others achieve their goals whatever they may be. I do not have an income at the moment, and I can’t afford to pay for the release of my transcripts from Wayne State University (over $1000) and the associated fees. I started the process of becoming licensed back in 2021, I was never able to be successful due to the lack of funds. Below, please read the circumstances that lead to my financial distress.
I lost my beloved husband Rev. Lavern Tyronce Sr. (who is pictured in my accompanying graduation photo) unexpectedly in December 2022 during a bout of homelessness due to Covid-19. I was his full-time caretaker but having lost him made my already dire circumstances almost unbearable.
There was no insurance and very little assistance of any kind and I got very low. Still, I wanted to continue to help my community and use the grief as fuel, so I did something I had been wanting to for a long time. I joined AmeriCorps in 2023 and having recently completed my term of service and being in-between jobs at the moment I could use some financial assistance. As an advocate, it has never and will never be about money but as such when bad things happen that are out of my control there is very little to fall back on.
I am proud to say that I have made great progress with the grace of God and a small group of close friends through adversity after adversity. I have overcome many things over the years, becoming the first in my family to graduate from college and to obtain a masters degree, the loss of my mother and husband, homelessness and many other horrible circumstances. I have a three-bedroom home for myself, and children, and I am set to start a fellowship soon. So, I thank God for his many blessings, past, present and future. I will be sure to personally thank any and everyone who can find it in their hearts to donate and no amount is too small. Thank and may God bless you.
