Helping a Hero Pilot Recover

Dear friends, family, and compassionate supporters,

I am reaching out to you today with story of bravery, resilience, and the power of community. On December 18th, myself and 4 others were on a float plane when shortly after takeoff both the engines quit. Ultimately this resulted in a devastating high speed crash into the forest floor. Despite major destruction of the aircraft, our pilot Don’s expertise and unwavering composure in the face of danger ensured that we are here today to tell the story. With injuries that now seem only minimal on the scale of things.

His actions that day were nothing short of heroic. Don allowed us to return home to our families. Not expecting to make it home to his own.

However, the aftermath of the crash has brought about new challenges for Don. He has now suffered a devastating stroke, adding another layer of difficulty to his journey. Don is currently in Victoria General Hospital, far from his home base of Port Hardy. This has been especially hard on his wife Trish and their two young children, as well as Dons son. Despite being a pillar in the community and the aviation industry, he now finds himself in need of support.

It's important to note that Don has faced multiple struggles since the crash. One of these being that he has unfairly lost his job. After saving our lives, he has lost his lively hood. This is shocking, and devastating to say the least. It’s even more important to note that this crash was not due to pilot error. In the face of these challenges, it's imperative that we all come together to rally around him and his family in their time of need.
