Helping A Ray (Alexander Ray)

Donation protected
For those of you that know Alexander Ray or better known as A Ray, he was taken to Auckland City Hospital in critical condition this morning (April 18th) after being hit at 6am while out on a training ride. He remains unconscious in the hospital under a medically induced coma fighting for his life.

A Ray is battling a lengthy list of serious injuries. He is now considered in serious condition and will soon undergo multiple surgeries.

-Broken bones in spine, not paralyzed.
-Collapsed lung
-28 breaks in his ribs
-Deep hole behind eye, 98% sure won’t affect sight.
-Bone structure behind eye is fractured.
-Broken Clavicle, Scapula
-Open fracture of jaw
-Deep cuts to lower face and neck

He went in this morning for surgery to have a sensor placed under his skull to monitor the pressure as his brain has begun to swell.  They are potentially operating tomorrow morning on his jaw as it is completely fractured at the chin and dislocated from the skull on the right side.
His shoulder will need reconstructive surgery. They also drilled into his skull to monitor the swelling given the severe impact to his brain. It is unknown how he’ll be when he wakes up.

At this time, it is unknown what financial, let alone physical challenges A Ray and his family will be facing during his lengthy road to recovery.  A Ray is well known for his warm and kind heart, positive attitude, and his frequent encouraging words to others. He has been referred to as a stubborn, self-motivated, self-driven and a bit of a nuggety little kiwi that will not allow anything to stand in his way of getting back to the bike. Let's help him this time when he needs it and us most.

Please consider making a donation to his cause and recovery. Any amount will be greatly appreciated and will help relieve the stress from A Ray and his family as they focus on his recovery.
