Helping a recently homeless friend
Donation protected
I'm starting this GoFundMe for a friend who is starting over in life after a series of unfortunate events. In the end, he had lost his home thru no fault of his own, and as a direct result of being homeless, he lost his job. He has lost everything he owned save for a small bag of clothes.
He is truly starting from scratch. This GoFund me is meant to help get him back on his feet. It would be enough to pay for first month's rent, a security depost, and last month's rent, as is required from several of the cheapest apartments we can find in the area. Any extra money would go towards replacing clothes, toiletries, kitchen supplies, groceries, bus pass, and all those other little things that come with starting over.
At the moment, we have applied for several local jobs that could be of walking distance of apartments or on a bus route here in canton. We have scouted out for available apartments, that would be affordable on a monthly basis. And, we have applied for food assistance. Our goal is to get him a job, and once getting his first paycheck, getting him into an apartment near by. However, you can't get an apartment on a single paycheck. To get into an apartment, it's roughly $1500, and that's money we simply do not have at the moment.
I'd like to tell you a little bit about who my friend is as a person. First off, he wishes to remain anonymous because he's entirely embarrassed to ask for help. He's not the type to ask for help at all, and he never even asked me for help. But I am forcing help upon him. I can only imagine losing everything I own, all the work I put into my life, and having to start with literally nothing. But I know it happens to people every day, living paycheck to paycheck, and it only takes a single life event to lose it all. He doesn't have a whole lot of family, and what he does have isn't in a place to help him. He's a great young man, who is kind and caring, and has always gone out of his way to help others. He would regularly help his family with finances where he could, and go over to help with chores that they can't physically do them self. He volunteers his time to help his local community every week. He worked a full time job for several years and was a dedicated employee up until losing his home.
Whether you can donate a dollar, or even just share this cause, it is all appreciated. Thank you in advance!
