Helping Aaron Bell- Facing more medical challenges UPDATE
Donation protected
Hi Everyone- my name is Kim Dixon (Grimes) and this GoFundMe has been re-opened. Aaron and Angela are currently dealing with another hurdle in Aaron’s journey to recovery. Every cent raised here will go to help Aaron and his family in his recovery. The goal says $105,000 as I have set a target of $25,000 (your generosity raised $80,000 back in 2021).
We all know how challenging our economy is but when a family is faced with a medical crisis ( and Aaron and Angela are self employed) the last thing they should have to concern themselves with is how to cover bills and expenses. This wonderful hockey, media, and Quinte community they live in came together in 2022 to raise $80,000 to help this family heal.
I know times are tough but if you can find a few dollars to help Aaron again it would be greatly appreciated. If you can’t spare the money then can I ask you spread the message through your social media channels to people who know Aaron and Angela.
Angela has put together an update on what has happened since 2022.
Since Aaron’s original emergency surgery in November of 2021 the doctors have been keeping a close eye on his heart.
In November 2023 we were advised that he had a ballooning of his aorta and would need open heart surgery to repair that.
We were referred to a top surgeon in this procedure at Toronto General Hospital.
The procedure is a TAAA repair and is an extensive surgery done to fix aneurysms (ballooning) of the aorta that extend from the chest into the abdomen.
It is a major heart surgery. We have had to come to Toronto on 4 different occasions for pre testing and pre procedures before the surgery as there is a high risk of paralysis and in Aaron’s case stroke since he has already suffered from two.
Aaron’s surgery was on Wednesday August 14 and went well. He is still intubated (breathing tube) as his lungs need to get strong enough. He is moving but he did have another stroke in the same area as the first one followed by a seizure the next day. The neurologists are keeping a close eye on the bleed with repeated CT scans. So far it has not grown and there has not been another seizure. This is a big concern though as it can cause more deficits.
Aaron’s latest hospital stay is at least two weeks and recovery will be 3-6 months.
We continue to pray each day for strength and healing.
****Below is from the 2021 Go Fund Me****
On Saturday November 13th Aaron had a medical emergency that has changed his and his family’s immediate future. Aaron had a heart attack in which his main artery tore so he needed immediate open heart surgery. In doing the surgery they discovered he also needed a triple bypass. Due to the trauma of the artery tearing he also suffered a stroke. Aaron is paralyzed on his left side and will need extensive physical and occupational therapy to work through this.
His wife Angela is making the trip to Kingston daily and the family has a lot to bear. On top of this, for those who know Aaron, he is self-employed. We all know Aaron as a kind hearted, free spirited individual so if you can help him in his time of need any amount is appreciated ❤️
Thank you for your generosity! Kind healing thoughts are welcome.
