Helping AJ With His Road To Recovery
Donation protected
The day (Sunday, September 26, 2021) started off as a typical Sickles Gryphons baseball fall game weekend and ended with an unthinkable, tragic accident happening to one of their players - AJ Sawmiller. While playing and doing one of his life’s passions, AJ was seriously injured when he collided into a wall while attempting to run down a batted fly ball during the Gryphons’ baseball game. AJ suffered severe trauma with multiple fractures to his forehead, eyes, nose and mouth areas, a broken jaw, a broken wrist, a broken big toe, a concussion and other minor injuries, and was taken by ambulance to the hospital and currently is in the ICU unit.
AJ is a kind, caring, bright, intelligent, funny, thoughtful and hard-working young man that loves his two biggest passions in life – playing baseball and playing in the Sickles High school marching band. AJ is the type of kid that always has a smile on his face, a quick wit about him, always a kind word to say, soft spoken and polite, and driven to whatever he puts his mind to do. He is a scholar student in the classroom and something that AJ takes great pride in as he mapped out his upcoming future college plans, long-term career aspirations and possible baseball future.
The future is still very much a bright one for AJ, but unfortunately it will be one with a bit of near term challenges and obstacles as he overcomes the results from this recent tragic accident. The established GoFundMe page is to help both AJ and the Sawmiller family (Joe his dad, Lisa his mom and Alyssa his younger sister) with the immediate medical to life needs, and will help with any possible future or long-term needs that may arise for AJ from this tragic accident.
Any donation, large or small, will help and be greatly appreciated as we come together as friends, family members, neighbors, co-workers, Sickles teachers and staff, Sickles Gryphons baseball and former baseball family members, Sickles Gryphons band family members, current and former teammates, bandmates and anyone else that wants to help a great family and even a better kid in AJ Sawmiller in his journey to recovery from this devastating accident!
Thank you in advance for your generosity, continued thoughts and prayers, and overall support in helping AJ and his family.
