Help Amber Get Married
Donation protected
Amber needs your help to get married.
Amber Bosselman was born with a rare genetic disorder called spinal muscular atrophy, which essentially prevents her body from building muscle. Because of this, Amber relies heavily on caregivers to help her get out of bed, shower, cook, use the bathroom and more.
Because of the extensive care required to maintain her quality of life, Amber often wondered if she’d be able to get married, until she met Christopher Apfelbach. They fell in love quickly, and after dating for a year, knew they wanted to spend their lives together.
Christopher wholeheartedly embraces his role as a caregiver, but his professional commitments limit his availability to provide the necessary care Amber needs during the day.
Up until this point in her life, Amber has relied on significant amounts of government funding to provide the care she needs. However, Christopher and Amber’s combined income will push them just beyond the threshold for accessing crucial government benefits. In essence, their income disqualifies them from government help, but will not cover the extensive medical costs associated with living with spinal muscular atrophy.
That’s where you come in.
Your donation will help Amber get out of bed, exercise, use the bathroom, or cook a meal.
While you can’t be in Iowa physically to help Amber, by contributing to their campaign, Amber can hire a caregiver to fulfill these needs. You can help Amber from a distance as she and Christopher work towards financial independence.
Living with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is expensive. Here are some of the ways that you can help. You could be the one to help Amber have showers for a month! And with just $20, you could help her go to the bathroom for a day.
What would you like to help Amber do today?
Each dollar truly makes a difference. Thank you for your kindness and compassion, and for being a part of their remarkable story.
