Helping Cairn for her 2nd Cancer removal surgery!

Donation protected
Hello again, just want to say first and foremost thank you so very much for the help we received for the last GoFundMe! We were able to cover bills, and supplies, and purchase fun things for me to pass the time with staying home and in my bed or the hospital bed.
I have a very serious surgery coming up. The doctors won’t know for sure until they are in there, but to remove the cancer completely, I’m facing a possible bladder, vagina, and uterus removal. Having a hysterectomy will instantly make me go into menopause at the age of 35, and that means Joseph and I will no longer have the ability to  conceive a child of our own. It’s very heartbreaking, but we know we can and will, still have a positive, adventurous and fun life together.
I have been in and out of the hospital 6 times and 4 of those I have been admitted. It’s been a very painful, and extremely traumatizing time. The staff has been great, it’s just all the things that come along with having abscesses, infections, swelling, low hemoglobin, getting blood drawn twice a day, being woken up many times by staff, and the list goes on. I am grateful for all the care it’s just so difficult to handle it all. I was so glad to come home on the 13th of July after being in the hospital for 13 days! The money we receive here will go towards my Hospital Bills ( I was referred to City of Hope so I’m not sure how much will be covered by Kaiser, it’s a little sticky) supplies for the permanent colostomy and possibly urostomy, time that Joseph is taking off of work, gas, food (although I’m hoping COH has way better food than
Kaiser) and anything else that would be helpful during this time and near future.
If you cannot donate please share and also just having you read all of this and be in my life means so much, thank you.

The surgery is Wednesday July 26

I will not know what they keep or they take until I’m coherent enough. The tumors have blood vessels so I might need many transfusions. Family, Friends, this is a a big thing. And I would be lying if I didn’t say I wasn’t scared. This is wild.

It will be around 8 hours and recovery time is 2-3 weeks.

I’ll have to adjust my life to include dealing with a colostomy bag, and maybe a urostomy bag, fortunately I know a few people who have them and are willing to help.

Again, thank you all for being my by my side, it is truly remarkable to see all the love.
Speaking of love,

✨  I’m sure y’all want to know what’s going on, so please look for updates on here, Facebook, and maybe instagram as we post them✨

Here is my story for those who do not know, and which was part of the last GoFundMe we had where all of you truly blessed us and got us through a hard season. Thank you.

Cairn Atkinson was first diagnosed with a rare cancer called Epitheliod Sarcoma in July of 2018 and had her leg amputated at the hip in December of 2018. The hemipelvectomy surgery kept her in remission for almost four years! Unfortunately early 2022, she started to notice some new pain and discomfort, so she went to her oncologist and they confirmed the cancer was back but this time there were three tumors instead of one large one. Most recent changes is that all the tumors have been getting bigger in centimeters, and one of the tumors has invaded the colon and is breaking through causing a lot of pain and discomfort, and bleeding. The systemic medicine she was on was working, but now is not as effective. Cairn’s oncologist said the next process is chemo and radiation, which was not an option years ago so there is more hope this time that it will destroy and keep this aggressive cancer away! This news was devastating to Cairn and everyone who loves her, but it did not stop Cairn in her tracks! She continues to power though and do the things she loves and persevere towards her goals and desires all the while maintaining a positive attitude. The money she receives will go towards what insurance won’t cover such as procedures and medicine. Travel expenses, caregivers, food, housecleaning services, sanitizing items, radiation cream, head scarves to keep her warm, and bills. Cairn had to quit her most recent job and her husband Joseph will need to take time off to help support and be a part of this journey with his wife. Speaking of Cairn’s husband Joseph, he recently went on dialysis because he has an autoimmune disease that attacks his kidneys and causes him to have high blood pressure. So they have been paying for the machine and supplies that he needs to stay alive until he can receive a matching kidney, which they are in the process of acquiring one. Their medical issues has not created anything but a deeper love between these two, who will be celebrating their fifth year of marriage end of October. Any amount that you can contribute is a huge help and blessing. Sharing this fundraiser would also help exponentially so if you feel led to do that too, that would be wonderful. A big thank you from Cairn, Joseph and their family and friends.
