HELPING CHURCHES TO CREATE NEW REVENUE AND THRIVE
Tax deductible
Episcopal Enterprises is helping churches reimagine how we might thrive and impactfully serve our communities. Through coaching and offering resources, we are pioneering the use of church assets and relationships to meet housing, daycare, food, and other community needs.
Sustainability and mission don’t have to be mutually exclusive. As Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles Bishop, John Harvey Taylor puts it, social enterprise can be the “sweet spot where a congregation’s practical financial needs encounter its’ heart for being servants of Christ in its’ neighborhood and community”.
This GoFundMe campaign is directed to underwriting our plans for:
- Management and update of a robust website filled with models and how-to’s materials and guides;
- Recruitment and support for an Episcopal Enterprises Service Corp of professionals able to mentor those launching a new venture
- Implementation of workshops on high-demand topics (e.g. How to Negotiate Tax Implications.)
In service of these goals, we have an immediate need for funds to participate in the national Neighborhood Economics: Catalyzing Capital at a Local Level conference on May 3-6. The gathering will feature faith leaders doing important economic justice work, and people working in “impact” or philanthropic investing. We believe it is a great opportunity to both learn from other institutions and entities making similar efforts and to share what we have been working on as well. For example, one of our most recent works is our Guide for Sharing Spaces.
St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Hollywood is acting as Episcopal Enterprises' fiscal sponsor for this fundraiser. All donations will go directly to Episcopal Enterprises.
