Helping Dean Defeat His Toughest Opponent Yet...

Donation protected
Hi, I'm Jen and on behalf of myself and my sisters, we are fundraising for our dad, Dean Wirth.

For those who don't know, in Oct 2021, Dean was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Prostate cancer, which had spread to the bones. At that time, the bone cancer was contained within his lower back and pelvic region.

He immediately began treatment that included oral chemotherapy pills to try and stop the prostate from spreading the cancer. As some time passed, blood tests showed that his PSA (prostate) numbers were lowering. Unfortunately, these medications were taking their toll on Dean. We noticed a huge change in our happy-go-lucky guy. He was in bed before 6pm, suffering excruciating headaches and losing his appetite. When he went in for another check-up with his Urologist, his PSA numbers were higher and his doc really didn't have any answers for what the next steps were. He decided to get a second opinion in September of this year.

After countless tests and having to go under anesthesia for some, we received less than desirable results. Dean's cancer had spread and made its way up his spine and into his skull.

The next step included radiation treatment to his lower back region, where he was experiencing the worst of his pain. He completed 5 treatments back in late September/early October.

As if he wasn't going through enough, the oral chemotherapy pills he was prescribed made him experience every single side effect possible. With limited options and the choice to be as aggressive with treatment as possible, Dean started IV Chemo Infusions in October. He's currently halfway through this session, with 2 more scheduled to be completed before the end of this year.

After each chemo session, Dean is extremely weak, lethargic, and not the guy we are used to. He's unable to work, let alone have the strength to shower. Unfortunately, when Dean doesn't work, he doesn't get paid. His boss has been wonderful during this process, willing to work with Dad and making sure he's healthy enough to work.

We are asking today for help to eliminate a giant black cloud looming over my dad.
The unfortunate reality is that good medical care comes at a price. The bills keep piling up, and it's hard to stay positive during cancer treatment when those bills arrive daily.

Dad's new reality is worrying about how he's going to make ends meet and pay his bills, all while paying for his medical treatment.

We are moving forward with as much optimism as we can, but we all know that there are many unknowns in Dad’s future.

Any donation, no matter the size, will help eliminate the fear and stress of his bills to help him continue his fight to beat this cancer.

My dad is an incredibly proud man. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. He's the life of every party, the rock of our family, and our favorite guy. We greatly appreciate anyone taking the time to be a part of this.
