Help Support Dave Geary….

Hey friends & Family, my name is Diana, I’m Dave Geary’s little girl. I’m reaching out in hopes he can get some help for the long road he has ahead. He’s a Retired Air Force Veteran and owns his own Computer Repair that he may not ever be able to work at again. Here’s his story…

On Friday, March 15, 2024, Dave was riding his motorcycle with his group on the interstate when strong winds approached and knocked him off his motorcycle. The wind came out of no where. No one was injured but Dave. He was rushed to the Yuma hospital and was given the news of his paralysis. He’s able to move his arms and up but that’s it. His face is all bruised up even with a full face helmet on. They transported him by plane to the Scripts Mercy Hospital in San Diego, where the trauma center will be taking over his care for now. Eventually he will need a better place for spinal cord injuries with physical therapy.

Dave has a long road ahead. He’s due for surgery to get a rod put in at the T4-T8 to assist with sitting up. We won’t know if that will help with the paralysis. He will need physical therapy and long term care.

There’s a lot to be done and him having to worry about bills on top of all this is hard, especially since he can’t run his business.

**update: Dave had surgery today (3/18/24), it was successful and he had 1 blood transfusion. If all goes well he may be able to be released to a spinal cord injury place by the end of the week or next week sometime. Still a long road ahead.

***update: Dave is being transferred on Wednesday to the VA so he can start rehab and gaining his strength back.

****update 3/29: Dave was able to get out of bed today and try his new wheelchair out. Baby steps. So far the VA has been nothing but a blessing and showing compassion. They are helping ease him into this and ensuring he’s going slow and not rushing into anything. They did say it could take a year/ year and a half until we know where he will be with his paralysis.
