Helping Lay Gerald “Boobie” Porter to Rest

Hello Everyone,
Almost 4 years ago my family endured one of the most painful tragedies, my niece Precious Porter drowned in the kern river. I couldn’t imagine almost 4 years later we’d endure another sudden tragedy. My brother Gerald “Boobie” Porter, precious father died suddenly!
After the tragic death of Precious, I could see changes in my brother. Looking from the outside in some days seemed better than others. Knowing my brother I could see him mentally deterring. Understandably, nothing we did as a family could help him. you could see the pain and void he felt. Writing this my heart is in shambles, I know how hard he tried. The journey my brother was on ultimately lead to him being put on medicine to “help” with his mental fragility. This is when it took a turn, a medicine meant to help made it worse. Not having much familiarity on the “medicine”, as I do now It didn’t help! It made him unaware, angry, and he started becoming distant.
On June 13th, 2024 Boobie was released from lerdo. Our mom waited for him to come home, that never happened. Less than 24 hours after being released we would find out he was in the hospital. The panic didn’t set in until we found out he was listed as a John Doe on life support. A lot to absorb at once, this would change my life forever. 3 days later we would be informed he had no brain activity. That day he was declared dead. The love my brother displayed would reflect on this day, as an organ donor he would continue on life support. He will live on! I hope his organs can be used to continue someone else life or used for research. Either way, this selfless act will help.
Boobie is a father to 6 kids one being deceased. Two of his children live in two different states. we are asking for help with getting his children to California and funeral expenses we will incur as a result of this happening so suddenly. I will also make it a priority to help his children and family with grief counseling as needed. I’m learning that mental health is something that should be handled diligently.
Enclosing, Boobie is a Bakersfield native, those that grew up with him or ran across his path can contest to his gentle loving nature. His smile could brighten up the darkest room. I find solace knowing he’ll be reunited with his first born. As his sister I’ll make sure my other 4 nieces and nephew are taking care of! We love you Boobie! Any and all donations will be appreciated, if you can’t donate a prayer is priceless. We will appreciate that too. You can also use cash as a method to donate $Tookiejay1995
Thank you!
