Helping get the Milan community on two wheels

Hi, my name is Leslie White. I have been a Milan resident for the past 32 years. My husband, Vern, has long had a passion for cycling and working on bicycles. The past month he has found immense enjoyment in gathering unwanted and broken bicycles of all sizes and ages, fixing them up and getting them back to their owners or on to new homes. He has done this as a hobby and a ministry, of sorts, to share his love of cycling and the outdoors with others in our community. So far he has rehabbed and rehomed over a dozen bicycles, from 12" wheels to 26" wheels, to local Milanites. He has also worked on bicycles for Aid In Milan to help provide transportation for some of their clients. I am so very proud of him, for what he is doing and how he is serving our community this summer! He absolutely lights up when talking about being able to help others in this way-- sharing his love for cycling and giving back to the community that has given us so much over the years.

So, I am asking anyone who is able (and feels led) to donate a few dollars towards parts for the bicycles that we have at the house (and literally more coming in each week). He has developed a bit of a reputation in town as the go-to person for bicycle donations, repairs, and helping people get on to a refurbished bike. Sometimes when bikes are dropped off they need a new inner tube or two, hand grips, brake lines, etc. This GoFundMe was started for that purpose.

Training wheels  -$12

Inner tubes - $8 (each tire)

Tires - around $20-25 (varies by size)

Handgrips $10 (pack of 4 sets)

Pedals - $8/set

Whenever available (and safe), we try to reuse parts, or get then from a bike that can't be saved (AKA a "donor bike".) We currently have about 50 bikes in need of various parts. Would love to get them up and running, so we can get them back out in the community.
