Helping Grenada’s Animals After Hurricane Beryl
Donation protected
On Monday, July 1st, Hurricane Beryl, a category 4 hurricane, hit Grenada and its surrounding islands such as Carriacou in the West Indies. Both islands, being smaller than 200 square miles and surrounded by water on all sides, make any natural disaster a catastrophe, let alone a category 4 hurricane. Carriacou is one of Grenada's small islands which became the eye of the storm and was described by experts as “flattened within 30 minutes.”
Inhabiting the island of Carriacou is between 4000-6000 animals and only a single animal hospital. With such a catastrophic disaster, the amount of animals that are likely affected, hurt, and displaced is unfathomable. This GoFundMe was created by students in Grenada who want to relieve these animal hospitals of any financial constraints to aid as many animals and their families as possible. I have been in contact with carriacou animal hospital to determine how to help and what is needed. They are extremely grateful for any and all help they can recieve for the animals as they are the only hospital on smaller island.
