Helping Harry Heal

Donation protected
My name is Melissa Shecter and I am fundraising for "Harry" the cat. I found him at an abandoned home in Roebuck. He was in the driveway and looked hurt as I drove by. I went back to check on him that night and to bring him some food and water. He was in rough shape so I gathered him up and brought him home. He was starving and had a severe laceration on his front leg. The next day we headed to the vet. That was June 11th. He was treated for fleas and ear mites, dehydration, tested for feline leukemia, had an xray that confirmed he had a BB pellet in his hip and his leg cleaned and dressed. The wound was so severe his tendon was exposed. I brought him home and set up an area in my kitchen for him to rest and heal and be exposed to my dogs. At first we thought he was deaf from possibly being hit by a car. His vision was limited as well. I posted Harry's story on Facebook requesting donations to assist me with his medical and supply needs. Quickly $900 was raised and food donated. He has been back to see the vet 8 times for rechecks, laser treatments for his leg, antibiotics, neutering and more. In-between those visits we have had to apply daily honey wraps to help his leg heal. It's a very serious wound and will take a long time to heal. The $900 as been spent on supplies and vet bills. I have contributed an additional $1200 to date. He has gained weight, his coat is shiny, his hearing has improved and we think he has some vision. He is happily living in my kitchen in a gated area. He knows where his food and bed are and does use his potty box. However you can not let him loose without supervision or he will pee and poop. He loves to snuggle with me in my chair every night and after a long month he began to meow and purr his delight in having a loving family looking after him. The dogs loved him at first sight and Harry returned their show of emotion with meowing and head butts and snuggling with the dogs at night. I am letting him out on the porch to walk around and exercise his leg. He is a champ. Changing his bandage daily is not pleasant but he knows we are trying to help him. We will continue to take care of this sweet boy but would greatly appreciate any assistance you could provide. No donation is to small. He still has a long road ahead of him and we will help him every step of the way. Thank you to those of you who have donated in the past and continue to ask about his progress. If you would like to donate directly to his vet, you may do so by calling PET'S FAVORITE VET 411 Bellport Drive, Boiling Springs, SC and applying your donation to his account: HARRY SHECTER. I thank you in advance for your support and continued prayers for Harry.
