Helping Hersha

Dear friends, family, and fans of Hersha Parady,

My name is Jonathan Peverall, and I am the son of the talented actress Hersha Parady, widely remembered for her heartwarming role as Alice Garvey on the beloved series "Little House on the Prairie".

Hersha, who has always been an active and outgoing woman, is battling a tough medical condition - a brain tumor known as meningioma. This illness has robbed her of her strength, her memory, and sadly, her vibrant personality. She has become largely bedridden, and it is very difficult to see my Mom, who was once full of life and energy, now struggling with basic daily activities.

Upon seeing her condition during a recent visit to her home in Van Nuys, we decided to move her from Los Angeles to live with me and my family in Virginia, and while we are working to ensure she gets the medical help she needs, the costs associated with her care are mounting. We're looking at surgery to hopefully improve her condition, but the road to recovery is a long one, and the costs go beyond just medical. From moving expenses to in-home nursing care, to medical equipment and more, the financial burden is significant. And with a full time job and three kids, providing her with the level of care she needs is difficult.

Rest assured, we are taking care of her to the best of our ability, and we will continue to do so, regardless of any contributions made here. This GoFundMe is about improving my Mom’s quality of life and giving her the support she needs during this difficult time. It's also about showing her that she is not alone in her fight. Her family and friends have been here supporting her through everything, but there is only so much help she is willing to accept from the people she loves. My Mom has always been a fiercely independent woman, and asking for help isn't in her nature. That's why I'm stepping in to do it on her behalf.

For all of you who have enjoyed Hersha's performances, who have been moved by her character Alice, or who simply believe in helping someone in their time of need, I ask you to consider donating. Any amount, no matter how small, will make a huge difference in helping us cover the costs of Hersha's care, restoring some of the joy and vitality that this illness has taken from her, until we can get her the medical treatment she needs to hopefully restore her to her former self.
