Helping Hetty to Heal
Donation protected
The pictures you see below are of our beloved family cat, Hetty. Hetty is the friendliest, sweetest, chattiest cat you will ever meet, and is especially loved by our 10-year-old brother with additional needs. Sadly Hetty was hit by a car in the early hours of Wednesday morning, the car drove off and Hetty dragged herself home on her front paws as she could not use her back legs due to her pelvis being broken.
When she finally got herself home our mum rushed her to the vets, where she was diagnosed with three pelvic fractures, three skull fractures, a broken jaw, bleeding lungs and bladder, and a fractured roof of her mouth. She was critically ill and nearly died, but has since pulled through enough for surgery.
Our mother then discovered the insurance had lapsed without her realising. She works part-time for the NHS and needs to pay nearly £5,000 for treatment. The vet offered to euthanise Hetty, but mum refused because Hetty is so important to our baby brother, and “it’s not Hetty’s fault I stupidly forgot the insurance”.
One surgery down and the vets say she will make a full recovery. We are so glad to have made the decision not to euthanise as she will likely have a full life expectancy after 3 weeks of tube feeding and a further 3 weeks of rest.
To anyone who knows and loves Hetty, or simply wants to help a family in need, we would really appreciate the support - even if it's only a couple of pounds it would help make a dent. Thank you xxx
