Helping Homeless People in the Bay Area - COVID-19
Tax deductible
The outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus (also known as COVID-19 or SARS-CoV-2) has taken a toll on an increasing number of people around the world. In many states like California, a shelter-in-place command has been enforced, but unfortunately not everyone has the luxury of protecting themselves in the comfort and safety of their homes.
According to a 2017 PIT count, 135,000 people were estimated to be homeless in the state of California. This number has only continued to increase. Not only do these people lack a clean, safe place to live, but theirs is a world in which practicing safe social distancing is very challenging to do, putting them in an extreme risk of contracting the virus. In addition, keeping up standards of cleanliness (like washing hands, sanitizing, etc) in a crisis like this is also very difficult.
In such unprecedented times, it is important that we stay calm and hopeful, and give back to our community. Sadly, we are also restricted in doing so because of the need to practice social distancing. In light of this situation, I have created this fundraiser to donate to the Salvation Army, a Non-Profit organization which is able to take appropriate measures to contribute to these people in a safer manner.
Below, I have included a link for the official website of the Salvation Army, with a more detailed description of the many ways they can help people in this situation.
