Helping Honor Katy's Extraordinary Life

Donation protected
It is with unimaginable sadness and sorrow to pass on the tragic news that Katy Gildner Obi passed away Monday June 24th, 2024 at the age of 34.

It was only last November many of us were attending the celebration of love at Mike and Katy's beautiful wedding. They were a couple whose love was an inspiration for us all. In a devastating turn of events, in May of this year Katy received the diagnosis of stage IV melanoma. She was tough, a powerful force of kindness and strength and while we believed she would win this battle, it turned out to be much shorter than anyone could imagine. Their journey together as husband and wife, and dreams of starting a family were cut short after only 8 months. Mike is now left with a profound loss, overwhelming grief, and substantial medical and service expenses. We are reaching out to the community to support Mike during this incredibly challenging time. This effort is intended to offset any accrued medical expenses, cremation, and travel expenses for the 4 locations of Katy's requested ash scattering sites including the Cliffs of Moher, Ireland. We want to thank you all for any consideration and hope the love she shared so freely continues to be felt by all of you.

Mike's letter to Katy - June 24th 2024

Goodbye My Love

Today, June 24th we lost Katy to a short but ferocious battle with cancer. It's impossible to find the words, let alone type them, that express the grief I feel at the loss of my beautiful wife. She was a kind soul who brought joy and caring to so many around her. She made me a better man. She was my guiding light. The happiness she brought me will always remain. Those of you who knew her, know how smart, funny and determined she was. In May of this year she was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma. Despite the doctor's efforts and her determination to beat this most terrible of diseases, it was just too much too late. The hatred I want to have for this horrible disease I cannot find room in my heart for, as my heart has already been filled to the brim with the love of my wife. She was truly my best friend AND my wife. I enjoyed every second I spent with her. I ask anyone reading this to tell their loved ones that you love them. Do it more than you are now. It's impossible to say it too much.

Goodbye my love, your dear husband and soulmate,
M+K forever
