Helping Jayce and his family
Donation protected
Hey everyone, I made this GoFund Me to help Alexis and her son Jayce. Jay has been diagnosed with Chronic Nephrotic Syndrome, a lifelong kidney disease which can result in the need for a kidney transplant. There is no cure, only possible remission. Now his mother, Alexis, and Jayce are dealing with psychiatric consultations, and kidney disease with a lifelong need for medication, special diet, and potential transplant surgery.
Jay was hospitalized and diagnosed in New Orleans, then once released he was immediately admitted to OLOL Children’s Hospital in Baton Rouge to begin treatment. He was in the hospital for 2 weeks then returned home for 4 days. He was readmitted last week because his Albumin levels dropped so low that his blood fluid leaked out of his veins into his abdominal cavity. He is undergoing albumin infusions right now and may be released when the tests results indicate a safe level.
Unfortunately, there is no end in sight for the necessary treatments Jayce must undergo.
Alexis has been able to get Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) from work to be with her child while he is hospitalized. She goes to work on the days he is out of the hospital. Unfortunately, that totals only 4 days in the last 4 weeks. Alexis does not get paid for days she is not at work. Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) means she won’t lose her job because of absenteeism but they do not pay her if she isn’t there. However, her bills are not stopping. Rent and utilities must be paid even if she has little to no income.
If you can help Alexis we would be so grateful. The family is doing everything we can to get groceries and necessities for her children, but it is not enough. Any donation is sorely needed and truly appreciated. Thank you.
