Helping Jeff McGinn Fight Kidney Failure
Donation protected
Today I am thankful for this guy. My big brother. The remaining leader of our family.
Today, he needs our help.
While following his lifelong dream of retiring on a tropical island, he became deathly ill on Sunday, November 15th, in Isla Mujeres, Mexico.
He laid in his apartment for 3 days, violently ill, until his landlord realized he hadn't seen him in 3 days, and knew something was terribly wrong.
Jose went to check on Jeff in the middle of the night, and immediately took him to the local clinic on Isla Mujeres.
He was transferred to the Cancun General Hospital the following morning.
After several test results came back, we were told he is diabetic.
His blood sugar level skyrocketed to 996.
Normal blood sugar levels less than 140 is normal.
(He should have died, or in the very least slipped into a diabetic coma).
He did not die. However, he has several large kidney stones and is in the beginning stages of kidney failure.
Being in the service industry his entire life, he does not have medical insurance. Chuck and I flew to Cancun on Tuesday, and flew him back to Texas yesterday.
For now, he is staying with us.
He is stable for now, but will need immediate medical attention, dialysis, and will have to have at least one surgery to remove his kidney stones, as they are too large to pass.
If you would like to assist with his financial burden, all donations are greatly appreciated, and will go directly to Jeff's growing medical bills.
On behalf of Jeff, we appreciate the outpouring of love, prayers and support over the past week, and undoubtedly over the next several months.
Thank you!
