Helping Jim get prosthetics

Donation protected
On February 13 Jim was admitted to the hospital in septic shock. He fought a hard battle to remain alive and we are all grateful he is still with us. However we received some difficult news that due to the medications they used to save his life, he will lose at least portions of his fingers and thumbs if not all of the fingers on both hands. We will not know how much for another 8 weeks when he is expected to have surgery. His insurance will only cover robotic/prosthetic hands and not robotic/prosthetic fingers. The robotics fingers are expected to cost $100k/hand. We are hoping Jim can keep as much of his hands as possible and not be in a position to amputate more simply due to insurance/money.

The robotic finger prosthetics will help Jim with his everyday of getting back to work as an engineer at GE and being the best husband and father to Danielle and the boys.  Also as many of you know, Jim’s biggest passion outside of his family is BMX. We want to give him the best shot possible to get back to riding. In addition to those robotic fingers for day to day he will need other specific prosthetic options to help him get back to what he loves.

We appreciate whatever amount people can give and look forward to holding some jump jams this year in order to help raise some of the money.

Love and gratitude,

The Murray Family
