Helping Kathy Through Her Loss

Hello family and friends of Dwain and Kathy. Wayne, his wife Alyssa and Krissy are writing you today to ask for a little help. As you know, we lost our Dad last month suddenly and unexpectedly. We are heartbroken to lose him, as we know all of you are as well. In addition to all our shock and sadness, we are realizing we have an immediate need for assistance. Kathy, our mom and Dwain's wife of 52 years, has been left in a precarious financial situation. Our dad was a union carpenter for 30+ years and his pension was the majority of their income in his final years. Upon his death, that monthly income stopped immediately. While Kathy will receive a portion of his social security benefit, her income has suddenly been reduced to 1/5 of what it has been, overnight. And she will not begin to receive his SSI for another two months. She has an immediate need for financial help to cover bills, car payment, and living expenses while she figures out her next steps in this transition to a drastically changed lifestyle.

As you all know, my father would never ask for help like this. Now that he is gone, we need to. We explained to Kathy that a GoFundMe is an organized way to give friends and family a chance to help out if they are able to. So many people ask "how can I help?" so this is one way. It's no substitute for kind words and supportive thoughts, which she appreciates as well.

Any amount is deeply appreciated and will help. We are setting a goal of $4,000 - to help her get through the next few months.
