Helping Kristin Fight Cancer

Kristin woke up on Mother's Day, 5/8/22, anxious about a mass she had been feeling in her breast for the past 5-6 days. She had brushed it off as normal tissue changes, but for some reason, on that day, she felt differently about it. It was a Sunday, but working in Labor and Delivery as a nurse pays off, and she reached out to her manager and her OB, and they got me scheduled for a mammogram the next day. Scott, Kristin's husband, went with her for what she thought would be a mammogram but turned into an ultrasound and biopsy too. They were told they would hear the results on Wednesday or Thursday. Tuesday morning 5/10/22 her doctor called, and her words were, " Kristin, it's not good. It's invasive cancer, grade 3." Her world felt like it had been changed forever, but they had no idea how God would work in them. She can honestly say through this scary time; God provided her with an overwhelming amount of peace and strength. She woke up Monday morning to the Bible Apps verse of the day- Isiah 41:10, " Do not fear, for I am with you: Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. " And He has done exactly that. The following weeks seem to fly by and crawl at the same time. She had an MRI, her port placed, and many doctor appointments. She learned that her breast cancer is triple-negative Stage 2b and very fast growing, which was the scary part. Genetics testing came back negative. The plan was to start chemo first, which would is 16 treatments lasting 20 weeks. She has 6 more weeks of chemo and will have imaging to decide on surgery. The road ahead is still long and unknown, which is scary. She knows, though, that she can do this and that God is with her. One of her biggest blessings in all of this has been the wonderful support system her family has surrounding her. From friends and family to her absolutely amazing work family, they have felt more love then she knew possible. She knows that God is going to use this for the greater good! ❤️
