Help Lila`s Family - Heart Transplant

This fundraising page has been set up to raise money for my beautiful friend and her family at this really difficult time. Lila is the most caring, loving, outgoing and comedic soul out there who hasn't had the easiest of lives. Hopefully after her gift she will be able to lead a `normal` life without her heart condition controlling what she can do. Lila`s ambition on becoming a paramedic may finally come true.

Lila is 19 years old and was born with a congenital heart condition. Throughout her lifetime she has had many surgeries, starting with her first operation at only a day old and having to be resuscitated twice. Lila became more unwell in December 2023 and was diagnosed with heart failure. She was put on heart failure medication at Harefield Hospital after many tests were done and here she was told she was eligible for a heart transplant. This would have to be done under Newcastle Freeman Hospital as they are one of the only hospitals that specialise in congenital transplants. Lila had remained stable until December 28th 2024 where she was admitted into hospital and transferred to Brompton Hospital. She was put onto life saving medication and transferred up to Newcastle by an ICU ambulance. Lila has now been put on the urgent heart transplant list and will remain in Newcastle until one becomes available. Lila has been struggling with breathing due to her heart overworking and causing her lungs to start over filling with fluid. Unfortunately the wait is uncertain and have estimated the wait could be up to 9 months for a donar. As most of you are aware Lila`s family live in Surrey which as you can imagine has put immense financial strain on the family. Dad, Peter, is staying up there full time living in a hotel so Lila is not left alone whilst Mum, Gemma, is going back and forth by train every few days to take care of their other daughters back home. As you`re all aware this is a very stressful and scary time for Lila and without your help there will come a time where no family will be able to stay up there due to financial costs. Any contributions made will go towards hotel stay, fare tickets and any essentials that Lila needs across the period of time she`s in Newcastle.

This won't be the last of our fundraising as when Lila is fit and healthy and fully recovered, she wants to train to do the half marathon and skydive to raise money to say thank you to Newcastle and The British Heart Foundation for all they have done over the years.
