Helping Madelyn Through Her Cancer Journey

Donation protected
Madelyn Carroll, 19 years old, diagnosed with CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome) in 2017, a severe nerve disease in her right foot began to spread up her leg. After 2 years of treatments to manage the CRPS, not being able to stand for more than 5 minutes at a time, walking with a cane and always being in pain, a lump formed on her shin which was thought to be a result of her nerve disease. After Hyperbaric treatment, the lump grew to the size of a tangerine in a matter of weeks.

In November 2019, an emergency MRI was ordered and shortly following... Madelyn was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma, an aggressive form of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma Cancer.  Our world was shattered.

Given that the Lymphoma and CRPS are in the same limb, Madelyn has been faced with immense challenges and will continue to for years to come.

The tumor has invaded her tibia bone and has grown 2cm in the past 2 weeks, potentially compromising her bone.

Madelyn has a long road ahead of her...chemotherapy, radiation and extensive rehabilitation to repair the nerve damage. Doctors fear the tumor has grown through a nerve causing severe pain and swelling.

This journey we have embarked on has not been an easy one. Madelyn has not only struggled physically, but also emotionally. She refuses the thought of losing her life to cancer, but she is very aware she will lose her hair. As a 19 year old young woman, she is fearful. She knows it's just hair but looking your best dramatically helps feeling your best. We are all wanting Madelyn to be in the best of spirits as we venture through this chapter of her life.

The caregiver role has been immensely difficult as well. Watching your child go through such horrible tests and treatments has been heart wrenching. In order to be by her side and care for her, your donations will allow Mom to take time off work to support Madelyn physically and mentally while she kicks cancers ass.

People are asking how they can help... therefore we are reaching out to our family, friends, colleagues and strangers to assist Madelyn in this long journey to recovery. We have already been financially impacted with our commute 3 days a week to Toronto hospital, devices required along with medications, wigs, etc that are not covered through our health plan. We lovingly need your help.

Thank you to everyone for your continued prayers and support during this extremely difficult time. XO
