Helping me get back afloat

If you’ve been following my adventure, you know that I spent the last 6 months training and qualifying for the Mini Transat 2023 (solo transatlantic race on a 21ft boat) . I learned how to sail 3 years ago after deciding to leave the NYC tech scene behind. I immediately got hooked on sailing and have been chasing the high and lows of the ocean ever since. When I discovered the Mini Transat, I knew I had to do it.
It’s a huge challenge to even just get to the start line, especially as an outsider with little money or connections. I put my heart and soul into this project and every moment of every hour revolved around my mini Poch’trot. And it’s been an amazing journey. I grew so much as a sailor, I saw some of my most beautiful sunrises and moonrises, I met other sailors with the same crazy glint in their eyes. It felt like I found my place.
Unfortunately, when I was finishing my 1000nm solo nonstop qualifier, I ended up on the rocks with waves crashing over me. The moment I saw my keel pierce through the boat was gut wrenching, the image is forever printed on my retinas. I’ve been taking some time to process and have gone through many many emotions. The void that follows such an intense project is hard to explain.
But one thing is for sure, I want to keep sailing and do the 2025 Mini Transat. It doesn’t make sense for me to repair my mini because the damage is so extensive. So I’m gonna start looking for another boat which hopefully has as much charm as Poch’trot :)
I’ve been sharing my adventures online and the support has been unbelievable. There were some tough times, but the the kind words from everyone helped keep me afloat. I had people suggest I start a crowdfunding for a new boat, so here we are :) I’m putting in a target of $40k but everything helps. I’ve found some work for now and will start looking for sponsors, but every drop counts.
Thanks for checking out my journey, I hope I can keep sharing more ocean adventures soon :)
