For friends of Mike - On August 6th,2023, Mike was involved in a serious dirt bike accident at a practice track in Yuba, CA. Friends he was riding with report they found him unconscious after having been crushed by his motorcycle. Despite having been unconscious for 6 mins, he attempted to get up and had to be immobilized by his friend to reduce damaging his body further until an ambulance arrived.
He was taken to Marysville hospital and after being stabilized, was transferred by helicopter to UC Davis in Sacramento. Here it was determined that Mike had a brain bleed, three fractured vertebrae, six broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and a broken femur. On Sunday they stabilized the brain bleed and inserted a tube in his chest. On Monday he had surgery to pin his leg back together, Tuesday they started physical therapy and tomorrow they are hoping to remove the chest tube and assess possible injury to his knee. We are being told he is expected to heal well and is currently getting 30 mins of rest at a time. The plan as of Tuesday, Day 3, is for him to be home resting in two or three days with a checkup in two weeks. He has a long road ahead of him.
Mike who is the Sole Proprietor of his company, All Pest Wildlife Solutions, sadly does not have health insurance. His wife, Danielle, works for a nonprofit organization called Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue and was fortunately scheduled to take vacation this week so she is able to be at his side. Their 5-year-old twin boys are staying with family until Mike is released to begin his months long recovery.
Unfortunately, he and his family will have a tremendous amount of bills to sort through as a result of this accident. If you know Mike, you know it is undeniable that he is one of the most giving, caring, and supportive of whatever you are passionate about, human beings on the planet. If we, the friends, family and fans can help reduce this burden for Mike and Danielle so he can focus on getting well, that would be an amazing gift to our friend. No amount is too small and every penny will be greatly appreciated for the gift that it is. Please share this with others who know Mike so together we can help shoulder a little of the burden for our friend.
A little insight to Mike for those that do not know him well - Mike is first and foremost a family man. Camping, diving, swimming, mountain biking, dirt biking, and exploring with his wife and twin 5-year-old boys. Second and third, somehow juggles work and activities with friends. For work he removes pesky animals without killing them from your home and happens to be ridiculously talented carpenter to fix the hole the critter made. Never sacrificing a moment for his boys, he takes them everywhere he goes, giving them the attention young boys need from their father. His giving nature doesn’t stop with family, he is always willing to help and encourage any friend in need. Just ask any of us! This is the reason we are so passionate about giving back to our brother in need.
