Helping My Family With Cancer Costs

Donation protected
November 2017 changed our lives forever. My beautiful twin sister was diagnosed with her second cancer. She was diagnosed with Leiomyosarcoma, an extremely rare cancer that only makes up 1% of people with cancer diagnosis. In December 2017, she had a very extensive surgery to remove her tumor and take out portions of her bowel, liver and eventually her kidney. She was in remission for a little over a year and then it came back full force. Since then, she has had numerous doctors visits, scans, surgeries, lab work, transfusions, radiation, port changes and more. Never once has she complained. She said she is living for her 3 kids. She is a single mom of 3 boys Drake, Luke and Jackson. She has been able to work up until this last year. She and the boys currently live with my mom who is retired. Jackson and Drake take therapy sessions along with Rachel to help them attempt to cope with her cancer. Earlier this week, we were told by her oncologist here in Tulsa that it was time to discontinue treatments and prepare for hospice. Her body was just too tired. He told her she was the bravest patient he had ever had and she fought harder than anyone he has seen. Well, she isn't ready to stop fighting yet. Her oncologist down at MD Anderson in Houston called and dependent on how her labs look and if she meets the criteria, he has a couple of clinical trials she can try, one being very promising in sarcoma treatment. This will require her and one of us to fly down to Houston every 2 weeks, stay a night or two and then fly home. Bills keep coming and money is getting extremely tight. Becky and I do what we can but we aren't in the best financial positions either right now. We need to hire a overnight nurse to come in and help as my mom can't be up all night and then be with the kids during the day and do school work and such. Rachel is too weak to get out of bed even though she tries. She has fallen numerous times. My family and I thank everyone from the bottom of ours heart.
