Helping NJ during COVID-19
Tax deductible
As COVID-19 continues it’s spread, more local communities as well as entire nations are feeling the impact in their lives and are adapting to new changes. While we take necessary precautions to slow the spread of the Coronavirus, many of our neighbors find themselves in difficult situations.
New Jersey currently has the second-largest amount of COVID-19 cases in the United States, with rapidly increasing numbers. Due to this daily large jump in cases, the New Jersey Food Bank, the state’s largest food bank, “is struggling to tackle food insecurity amid the COVID-19 crisis, after supermarket shelves have been left empty by panicked shoppers hoarding the very goods used to feed already vulnerable families.” (https://www.njtvonline.org/news/video/hunger-in-nj-food-pantry-trying-to-keep-up-during-covid-19-crisis/ )
The CEO of the New Jersey Food Bank, Carlos Rodrigez, says, “There will be a shortage, there currently is a shortage...But I think, more important than the shortage, there is an increase in need.” (https://www.njtvonline.org/news/video/hunger-in-nj-food-pantry-trying-to-keep-up-during-covid-19-crisis/)
Why is this important? Due to the rapid spread of this virus, closings of thousands of restaurants, and cancellations of large events, means that workers who earn hourly pay or known as wage workers will be greatly affected by these closings, and will have a more difficult time gaining a steady income. People who also rely on some of these places for food will also have trouble. By helping this non-profit organization, we can do our part to help those struggling with hunger during these tough times by giving back to the community, while still following COVID-19 guidelines.
For every $1 you donate, 3 meals can be provided for our neighbors.
We all have the power to impact others in a positive way, while still flattening the curve. Non-profits organizations like the New Jersey Food Bank provide essential resources to people in need, and we now have an opportunity to do our part. Even while socially distancing, it is essential to reach out to others, and websites like gofundme.com make it easier to form that connection and unite the community. Donate now. Support your local food bank. Make a difference.
As a family we all need to look out for each other during these difficult times, and supporting a local food bank is an amazing way to give back.
Thank You,
